Chapter 4 - The Page That Stayed

"The universe has a funny habit of returning the things you thought you lost."

The shoot had wrapped late, but Avyaan couldn't stop thinking about that notebook.

He sat in his vanity van, the city's glow filtering through the window blinds, flipping through the pages again. Every line felt personal, like the writer had poured her heart into it.

Some pages had smudged ink, others had faint doodles of broken clocks and lost moments.

He'd seen hundreds of scripts — polished, commercial, predictable.

But this one... this felt alive.

He reached the last page, where a handwritten note stood out:

If you're reading this, then maybe my dream found you before I could.

All I ever wanted was for someone to feel what I wrote.

Avyaan stared at the words for a long time, then closed the notebook gently.

"Who are you, Niyati Verma?" he murmured.

The next morning, before shooting began, he called the security head.

"There was a girl yesterday — she snuck in, black hair, maybe early twenties. Do you know where she went?"

The guard frowned. "Sir, we tried to catch her, but she ran off before we could get her. No idea who she was."

Avyaan nodded, disappointment flickering in his eyes.

But inside, he'd already decided — he wasn't giving up.

He'd talk to Mihir, maybe see if he knew the name.

If not — he'd find another way.

Because something about that script wouldn't let him move on.

The next morning felt heavier than the night.

Niyati sat at a small tea stall near her hotel, stirring her cup absentmindedly. The world around her buzzed with people chasing deadlines and dreams — and here she was, with neither.

Her notebook — her dream — was gone.

And she didn't even know who had it now.

She took a deep breath and whispered to herself,

"It's okay, Niyati. You can write again."

But even as she said it, her chest tightened. That script wasn't just words — it was her.

Still, she had to survive first. She counted the little money left in her wallet — barely enough for two days' food and one night's stay. she also had to go back to Nainital ... she thought to herself she will find a way.

Mumbai suddenly felt bigger, colder.

As she walked back to the hotel, her phone buzzed — an unknown number.

For a second, her heart jumped.

Could it be...?

She picked it up, voice soft. "Hello?"

A pause. Then a man's voice said,

"Hi, is this Niyati Verma?"

Her breath caught. "Yes... who's this?"

"This is Rajesh from Mihir Sehgal Productions. Sir found your name on a script."

The world froze.

Her heart started to race again — wild, disbelieving.

"My script? You found it?"

"Yes. Director sir wanted to meet you. Can you come to Film City tomorrow morning?"

Her eyes filled with tears — this time, not from pain, but from a fragile spark of hope.

"Yes! Yes, I'll come!"

When the call ended, Niyati pressed her hand to her heart, trembling.

Maybe dreams do find a way.

And what she didn't know — was that it wasn't Mihir Sehgal who'd found her script.

It was Avyaan Parekh.
