Chapter 3 — Shattered Pages

“One fallen page was all it took for two strangers’ stories to begin.”

The moment Avyaan’s eyes met hers, she felt the world tilt. For a heartbeat, everything went silent — the crew, the lights, even the chaos around them.

But then Anaya’s voice broke through.

“Guards!” she called again, sharper this time.

And before Niyati could explain, the heavy boots of security echoed down the set path.

Her throat went dry. Panic surged through her veins.

“I—I didn’t mean to—” she tried again, voice trembling.

But no one was listening.

The guards were already moving toward her.

Embarrassment burned through her chest — dozens of eyes staring, whispering.

Who is she?

What was she doing here?

Another crazy fan maybe?

Tears blurred her vision. She stepped back, her hands shaking. “I’m sorry… I’ll leave,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.

She turned to run — but in her rush, someone bumped into her shoulder. Hard.

her script — slipped from her hands and tumbled to the ground. The pages fluttered open, scattering across the dusty floor like broken pieces of her dream.

For a second, she froze — watching the wind flip through the pages she had written with her heart.

Her life’s work, scattered.

But the guards were too close now. “Stop her!” one shouted.

Fear took over. Without thinking, Niyati turned and ran.

Past the lights, past the crowd, past everything she had come for.

Her heart pounded painfully as she dashed through the back exit, tears streaking down her cheeks.

Behind her, one of the scattered pages landed near Avyaan’s shoe.

He glanced down — and for a brief moment, his eyes caught a line written in her handwriting.

“Love isn’t about finding someone perfect. It’s about seeing someone’s scars and choosing to stay.”

He frowned, picking up the page gently. The paper was smudged with dirt — but the words hit something deep inside him.

He looked up, toward the direction where she had disappeared.

And though he didn’t know her name, a strange curiosity stirred within him.

Who was that girl?

And why did her words feel more real than anything he’d said on screen?

Her lungs burned, her legs ached, but she didn’t stop running until she reached the back road outside Film City.

She stumbled near a tea stall, gasping for breath, wiping her tears with trembling hands.

People turned to look — a girl in worn jeans and dusty sneakers, crying in the middle of Mumbai.

The humiliation stung more than anything else.

She’d come with so much hope — clutching her dream like it was magic.

And now… it was gone.

Her script.

Her two years of sleepless nights, her words, her story — everything.

Niyati sank onto the pavement, hugging her knees. “Why did I even come?” she whispered to herself. “I thought dreams were supposed to be brave, not stupid.”

Her heart ached, but somewhere deep down, she still hoped someone — anyone — would find her script and realize it wasn’t just paper. It was her soul.

But Mumbai didn’t stop for broken dreams.

The traffic roared past, the world moved on — and she sat there, feeling small, lost, and invisible.

Back on set, the chaos had settled. The director resumed shouting instructions, cameras were adjusted, lights refocused. But Avyaan wasn’t listening.

He stood near the spot where the girl had dropped her script.

The pages were scattered, some dirt-stained, some torn slightly at the edges.

He crouched down and picked it up carefully.

The first page read:

“Script: tum Tak

Written by — Niyati Verma.”

Niyati.

The name lingered in his mind, soft yet powerful.

He flipped through a few pages. Each line was neat, handwritten, and full of emotion — raw, unfiltered, alive.

It wasn’t like the typical scripts he read every day.

This one… felt.

He found himself reading one line twice:

“She didn’t want forever — just one real moment before life forgot her name.”

Something inside him stilled.

He didn’t know who Niyati Verma was — a fan, a student, a stranger — but her words carried something he hadn’t seen in a long time: truth.

Anaya called out to him from across the set, but he didn’t answer.

He just stood there, holding the pages, his thumb tracing her name.

Maybe it was curiosity. Maybe something deeper.

But Avyaan knew — he had to find her.

On the other side She sat on the steps of a cheap hostel she’d found near Andheri, staring blankly at the city lights.

Her backpack felt lighter — emptier — without the script inside.

She thought of her parents back home, believing she was still safe, still studying.

If they knew she was sitting here, heartbroken and penniless, they’d never forgive her.

But even through her tears, one thought refused to leave her mind:

At least I tried.

She closed her eyes, whispering to the night,

“Goodbye, Tum Tak…”

Little did she know — someone, somewhere in the same city, was reading it right that moment.

And her story wasn’t over.

It had just been found.
